How do you position yourself as a not-your-average career advice website? You write in an engaging, relatable way--just as if you're talking with a witty friend.
So, tell me about yourself.
The What
We'll keep this brief. The Career Mint is a guide for your career, taking you from point A to B to C, all the way to R: retirement. We address the how-to's and what-now's and don't shy away from the random, one-off, and can't-believe-I'm-Googling-this topics. All the info we provide comes straight from the experience of mentors so you know--and we know--you're only getting tried-and-true advice.
Still reading? Good! This was your first lesson, so we hope you were taking notes. Business Insider says that it only takes seven seconds to make a first impression, and you saw our homepage and decided it was worth your time to find out more about us. That's a "win" for us. Then we gave you our elevator pitch; that's the 30-second way we'd explain The Career Mint to you if we just met you in an elevator. And look! You found the information interesting and are still here. Sweeet.
Okay, now it's time for you to take a look around. Still don't know where to start? Continue reading to get a better idea of what we do.
The Why
Because establishing and advancing your career is, quite frankly, hard.
We have all been there. That "can I really do this?" moment. Those times you wonder if you're doing it right and then question if you'll find success. There are sure to be up's and down's in your career, and it's hard to know what to do next. It's not easy to find someone who can help guide you through it, but we think you deserve answers. So you'll find 24/7 advice on our site. When you need answers that are not one-size-fits-all, we have mentors that can give you personalized advice over the phone, video chat, or instant messenger. Schedule a session here.
The Who
The first who is you. You're the reason we created The Career Mint. You probably didn't come here by accident (if you did, stick around for a while, won't you?), and that means you have questions about your career and are looking for answers.
The other who is us--you know, the people with the answers and the people who write about those answers. No reason to go it alone. There are people who have been in your shoes before and have experience finding success and triumphing after failure. We actually want to help you and pass on the knowledge; that's why we're here. Cross our hearts.
The How
Articles. You know what an article is. The advice you'll find in the articles is often debated by a group of professionals, written, and then vetted by said pros. Repurposing from other websites? No siree! Not here.
Want to inspire an article with your hard-hitting career question? Ask the mentors here.
Mentor sessions. Not every question you have has a one-size-fits-all answer, so we have mentors are here to give you personalized advice to help you find success. Mentors are available to talk with you over the phone, video call, over instant messenger, or via email. Take a look at who's available for sessions so you can find the person most compatible with you and your needs.
Some other things we think you'll really like. We can help you with your resume, be there for you when you want to do a practice interview (even technical ones!), and more. Take a look!
